Elaf is the department’s Business and Academic Manager. Prior to joining the Department of African American Studies, she was a staff member at Georgetown’s School of Continuing Studies and worked as an account specialist at a DC-based marketing firm. Elaf has a degree in biochemistry from Eastern Michigan University.

Autumn Davis
Student Office Assistant, Department of African American Studies
Autumn is a sophomore in the College currently majoring in African American Studies and minoring in Creative Writing. In the future, she hopes to continue her work as a professor teaching others about the many historical and contemporary aspects of Black life through writing and literature. For leisure, Autumn enjoys writing poetry, playing volleyball, and watching horror movies.

Elise Merchant
Student Office Assistant, Department of African American Studies
Elise is a sophomore in the College majoring in Spanish and minoring in Science Technology and International Affairs. In the future, she hopes to pursue graduate school and become a Physician’s Assistant. In her free time, Elise likes baking, reading, and learning new languages.
